Our fall 2015 season is off to an incredible start. We have about 20 women on our roster who regularly come out to practices, about half of whom are rookies. And everyone knew what ultimate was before they came to the first practice - the first time that's happened here at UC.
Everyone cares so much about learning the game and improving themselves so that we can get better as a team. We scrimmaged Xavier University a couple weeks ago and won quite handily with a great audience that came to watch.
By far the biggest indicator of the dedication everyone has to the team this year is the fact that we just won Notre Dame's tournament Huck of the Irish. We went 7-0 on the weekend, notching wins over both Illinois and Notre Dame. I'm especially proud of those Sunday wins because both teams had played X/Y on Sunday, but "due to injuries" combined for Sunday play. But that didn't stop us.
We have the Fall Edition of the Chicago Invite coming up October 17-18 which will be another great test for us. But to me it feels like we're ready to step up to the challenge.
Oh! We now have two coaches: Jason Mickey (Illinois and Virginia) and Nichole Kwee (Rice, 2015 Callahan nominee), and they have been immensely helpful with organizing practices and keeping everyone focused.
